Gili Meno Statues Overview

Story: The Gili Meno statues are a collection of 48 life-size sculptures created by British artist Jason deCaires Taylor. They form a circle and are made from real people’s casts. This project, called "Nest," serves as a home for coral and marine life.

Environmental Impact: The statues help protect coral reefs, which are threatened by pollution, overfishing, and climate change. Made from eco-friendly materials, they attract fish and sea turtles.

Location

The Gili Islands are located near Lombok, Indonesia, with Gili Meno positioned between Gili Trawangan and Gili Air. The statues are found on the west side of Gili Meno, near the Bask Resort.

Getting There

From Gili Trawangan, boats to Gili Meno cost between IDR 35,000 and IDR 40,000. Local boats run daily, and it takes about 15–20 minutes to walk to the statues from the port. Snorkelers can swim about 100 meters from the beach to see the statues, which are around 4 meters deep.

Tips for Visiting

To avoid crowds, visit early in the morning or after lunch. Wear fins for better movement in the water, and be careful of sharp coral. Always use reef-safe sunscreen and do not disturb marine life.
